About Levothyroxine (Cytomel T4)

Levothyroxine (T4, Cytomel T4, Synthroid, levoxyl, and levothroid) is a synthetic hormone which is also produced naturally in the body. 

T4 is traditionally used to treat patients suffering from hypothyroidism (a lack of the hormone thyroxine which is produced by the thyroid gland) and taking Cytomel results in an increased metabolic rate.

 T4 is also used to treat goiter, an enlarged thyroid gland and is also sometime used to treat particular types of thyroid cancer.

Because taking T4 increases the body’s metabolic rate, Levothyroxine has now started to become increasingly popular with bodybuilders trying to shed those impossible few pounds of fat at the end of a bulking cycle, before competition and patients suffering from being overweight, using it as an accelerator for a weight loss program. This is ideally accompanied by a regular exercise routine and dieting.
